Marco Wong emerged victorious in the first race of the 296 GT3 Virtual Challenge at Imola.

The 296 GT3 Virtual Challenge kicked off its first round at the Imola race circuit, and Marco Wong claimed victory by leading from start to finish.

 

In the qualifying session, the top three positions were all occupied by Hong Kong drivers. Marco Wong set the fastest lap time of 1:39.607, while Kobe Chan and Chris Tsang both clocked lap times of 1:40.050, securing the third and sixth grid positions respectively. Kobe qualified in second place, while Chris started from the third position. Chinese drivers Neuer Xu and Akasha secured the fourth and fifth grid positions.

 

 

Following the qualifying session, there were 18 laps in the main race. In the opening lap, Marco faced challenges from Kobe and Chris, but he defended his leading position with tight inside lines. Kobe stayed within a second behind Marco, attempting to apply pressure throughout the early and middle stages of the race. However, Marco managed to widen the gap to three seconds and crossed the finish line in first place. Chris overtook Neuer to secure the third position.

 

 

Marco's pole position win in the first round, along with setting the fastest lap of the race, has given him a substantial lead of 29 points over Kobe, who is currently in second place in the championship standings with 11 points.The season will resume in mid-January at the iconic Monza circuit, where we can expect an exciting battle of slipstreaming tactics.
